High-K isomers: some of the questions

Abstract: Abstract. High-K isomers exemplify the coexistence of individual-particle and collective motion in atomic nuclei. Here, the topic is briefly outlined, and some open questions are discussed. These include violations of the K quantum number; the high-spin limit to K isomerism; the fission stability of K isomers; possibilities for manipulation and control of K-isomer decay rates; and access to K isomers in neutron-rich nuclei.

“…Various studies by Walker and collaborators [47][48][49][50][51] examined the above characteristics (i-ii) in the mass A ∼ 130, 180 and 250 regions. Also, the studies [51][52][53] showed strong correlations between the F ν found and the product of the valence nucleon numbers, N p N n [54][55][56]. The N p N n reflects the characteristics of the deformation.…”

“…Mathematically, the L-type topological orders may correspond to unitary fully extended topological quantum field theories. The H-type topological orders may correspond to topless fully extended topological quantum field theories (or d + ǫ dimensional fully extended topological quantum field theories, see [13]).…”
