High Hepcidin expression predicts poor prognosis in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma

Abstract: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a growing public health challenge worldwide. Hepcidin antimicrobial peptide (HAMP) is differentially expressed in various tumors. However, the roles and functions of HAMP in ccRCC remain unclear. In the present study, we integrated systematic bioinformatics approaches to investigate the roles and functions of HAMP and its association with immune cell infiltration in ccRCC. Compared with paracancerous tissue, HAMP expression was significantly upregulated in ccRCC patie… Show more

“…In bladder cancer, the knockdown of TNFRSF14 significantly enhanced the proliferation of bladder cancer cells through the activation of the Wnt/β-catenin-dependent pathway 46 . Conflicting results have been reported on the prognostic effect of TNFRSF14 on cancer patients; increased expression of TNFRSF14 was correlated with worse OS in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and clear cell renal cell carcinoma 45 , 47 , whereas the opposite correlation was observed in breast cancer and bladder cancer 48 , 49 . Interestingly, our study indicated that MSS-EO-CRC patients with higher TNFRSF14 expression have better OS than lower ones.…”

“…ccRCC represents an escalating global public health concern. 138 Inaccurate test results contribute to delayed diagnoses and, consequently, poorer prognoses. Although various pharmaceutical agents are available for the clinical management of ccRCC, the majority lack high sensitivity and specificity, rendering current screening methods suboptimal.…”
