High‐gain mixer using cascode current bleeding and gm‐boosting techniques

Abstract: This paper presents a high‐gain down‐conversion mixer using a cascode current bleeding technique and a transconductance (gm)‐boosting technique. Unlike the conventional folded‐type mixer, an nMOS input transconductance transistor is allocated under pMOS switching transistors and load resistors in the proposed mixer. This topology allows the folded mixer to reuse the total current at the input transconductance transistor for low power consumption and to adopt the current bleeding technique for high gain. In add… Show more

“…Gilbert mixer is quite common among SDR receiver architectures as they can provide high bandwidth and broadband performance without degradation in the performance parameters [ 31 ]. Several mixer designs have been discussed in [ 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 ]. As in [ 38 ], improved Gilbert mixer design is proposed that attains reasonable CG and high port isolation while operating within a wideband.…”
