“…Metabolic syndrome has been shown to be more prevalent in women with GDM (438)(439)(440) with rates as high as 23%, 3 times agematched control using IADPSG criteria to diagnose GDM (441). Given the increased risk of CVD (OR 1.51) (442) with metabolic syndrome, consideration should be given to screening for all components of the metabolic syndrome in the postpartum care of women with GDM, especially if there is a family history (443,444).
