High frequency characterization of a sweeping jet actuator

Abstract: Sweeping jets are an emerging type of actuators that have gained interest due to their potential use in flow control applications. The working principle of these devices is based on the bi-stable attachment of a jet to adjacent walls. They are able to produce unsteady blowing within a wide range of operating frequencies. Nevertheless, the state of art shows a lack of space-time characterization of these actuators for high sweeping frequencies. This paper resents a conditional approach that reconstructs the spa… Show more

“…The results showed the effect of compressibility on the oscillation frequency and deviation from the linear trend line. In another study, the high-frequency characterization of an SWJ actuator was performed experimentally above 500 Hz [45]. The acoustic field of SWJ actuators also measured at full-and half-scale [46].…”

“…It was combined with a high-speed camera to visualize and investigate the internal dynamics of the SWJA using the Fourier transformation, phase information, and the Hilbert transformation [13]. Ott et al tried to find the time-space interface of SWJAs for high sweeping frequencies [14]. Another approach to the design optimization of the SWJA to increase the peak jet velocity output and pressure drop reduction was carried out by Jeong [15].…”
