“…35 However, it was reported that high-fidelity simulation (HFS) in dentistry can enhance learning with more complex scenarios, and increase learning outcomes. 16 Our study further found that fidelity is of higher importance in particular to third-year as compared to first-year students. Future studies may explore the effectiveness of, and satisfaction with, off-site simulations of various fidelity levels.…”

“…Self-assessment and evaluation of practical skills through video-recording have also been proposed and evaluated for dental hygiene training, 14,15 although the studies were not conducted in a home-based setting. Student satisfaction with HBSL, in particular, has not been explored, although affective reaction is the foundation level of Kirkpatrick's model of training evaluation, 16 and is important for quality assurance in education. 17 Simulation-based training in dentistry may vary from low-to moderate-fidelity simulations, such as hands-on practice on typodonts (artificial tooth models) on bench tops or mounted on phantom heads, to high-fidelity simulations, such as haptic-enhanced virtual reality (VR) simulators.…”

“…In general, studies indicate that learners have positive feelings towards simulations used in dentistry 16, 21, 23 . Use of high‐fidelity simulation for medical emergency management training in particular garnered positive dental student ratings in one study 22 . Additionally, dental students have rated patient instructor experiences as both effective for learning and enjoyable, including experiences that are conversation‐focused and relate to cultural competence and interpersonal communication skills 20, 24 …”
