High expression level of miR-1260 family in the peripheral blood of patients with ovarian carcinoma

Abstract: The most common gynecologic cancers detected in women in Turkey are uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and cervical cancer. These data reported that a mean of 3800 individuals were diagnosed with uterine cancer, 2790 were diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and 1950 were diagnosed with cervical cancer, and 400 individuals were diagnosed with other gynecologic cancers each year in Turkey. A mean of 14.270 individuals were detected to have been diagnosed with gynecologic cancers each year in the United States of America… Show more

“…The expression of hsa-miR-1260a has been reported in smooth muscle cells [53], monocyte-derived dendritic cells [54], and in the circulation of subjects infected with the virus A influenza [55]. This c-miRNA has also been related to malignant diseases, such as breast cancer [56, 57], prostate cancer [58], melanoma [59], ovarian carcinoma [60], lung adenocarcinoma [61], and asthma [62]. According to a recent review by Fodor et al [63], miRNAs dysregulated in the MetS may have effects on tumor signaling pathways.…”

“…Conversely, miR-1260a was upregulated in women with LGCIN that progressed. Upregulation of miR-1260a has been linked to many cancers including cancers of the sex organs (ovarian cancer in women and prostate cancer in men) (Ghafour et al 2021 ; Said et al 2018 ), and based on studies of the closely related miRNA miR-1260b, may promote invasion/metastasis (Morita et al 2020 ; Xu et al 2018 ). The dysregulation of miR-638 and miR-1260a at the early stages of cervical dysplasia may facilitate advancement to high-grade cervical dysplasia by causing dysregulation of pathways involved in oncogenesis.…”

“…It was shown that compared to healthy controls, miR-92a and miR-200b were upregulated in cancer patients [ 17 ]. Zhou et al [ 15 ] examined urine samples from patients with serous ovarian adenocarcinoma and found that miR-30a-5p was upregulated compared to healthy controls. This finding also correlated with tumor stage and lymph node invasion.…”
