High efficiency, low frequency linear compressor proposed for Gifford-McMahon and pulse tube cryocoolers

Abstract: Abstract. In order to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions, which are most likely the cause of substantial global warming, a reduction of overall energy consumption is crucial. Low frequency Gifford-McMahon and pulse tube cryocoolers are usually powered by a scroll compressor together with a rotary valve.
