High‐dose calcitriol, zoledronate, and dexamethasone for the treatment of progressive prostate carcinoma

Abstract: X‐linked Charcot‐Marie‐Tooth disease is one of a set of diseases caused by mutations in gap junction proteins called connexins. We identified a connexin32 missense mutation (F235C) in a girl with unusually severe neuropathy. The localization and trafficking of the mutant protein in cell culture was normal, but electrophysiological studies showed that the mutation caused abnormal hemichannel opening, with excessive permeability of the plasma membrane and decreased cell survival. Abnormal leakiness of connexin h… Show more

“…After screening titles/abstracts and removal of irrelevant records, 40 potentially related articles were selected and their full-text was assessed for eligibility. Eighteen reports were excluded because they were conducted on the same study populations as other included studies (n = 6) [19,25,[32][33][34][35], did not provide relevant outcome (n = 9) [36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43][44], were review article (n = 1) [45], authors' reply (n = 1) [46] and study protocol (n = 1) [47]. Consequently, twenty-two studies [3, 15, 16, 18, 21-24, 26, 32, 35, 48-58] were included in the systematic review (▶ Fig.…”
