“…The most significant examples are summarized in Table 2 (h = 0.02 m). In the same table, a series of fundamental periods T* = 2π/ω are also proposed for the curtain wall equipped by devices, with ω given by Equation (4). These values are compared with numerical periods T M03 1 obtained by a series of modal analyses performed in ABAQUS on the equipped curtain walls (M03 FE-model).…”

“…Recently, numerous authors investigated the dynamic response of different glazing systems. Various typologies of façade were studied under specific loading conditions [3][4][5] and particular attention was dedicated to the blast-resistance of glass curtain walls [6][7][8][9][10]. In [11,12], the effects of special dissipative devices on the behavioral trends of a cable-supported façade subjected to air blast loads have been recently discussed.…”

“…It has been reported that for in-plane loads on glass panels, increasing the clearance between bolt to glass hole and the distance between hole and panel edge, enhanced the stress development on the glass panels [30]. In order to improve the behaviour of PFGFS in areas of high seismicity, the seismic performance of specially design spider arm systems connecting the glass to structural support frames was assessed [31]- [32], including large horizontally slotted holes allowing isolated horizontal translation (figure 10), for that purpose, special low modulus silicon sealant was used to allow rigid body translation during the racking actions. The sizes of the slotted holes need to be calculated according to the glass façade drift demands from the building.…”

“…Despite the growing popularity of PFGF systems, there is very limited published research on their behaviour under the in-plane racking performance which is expected to be very different from FGF system published results. Recently, a PFGF system with large horizontal slotted holes in the support arms was designed and constructed in California, and the performance was verified by mock-up tests (Gowda and Heydari, 2009). In this article, a unique full-scale in-plane racking laboratory test of PFGF system is described which utilised contemporary connections to attach the glass panels to the structural support frame consists of spider arms and special bolt fittings.…”
