“…During the past 20 years, much research has been done to find ways of improving the precision and accuracy of clinicians' estimates. 16 Results of the study reported here indicate that the use of serum CRP concentration alone to make decisions about outcome is not reliable, but serial measurements of serum CRP may prove useful to monitor the progression of the disease and adapt treatment accordingly. Future studies are warranted to evaluate serial CRP concentrations in conjunction with other variables proven to be of value in prognostication for dogs with CPV infection, such as leukocyte count and results of serum biochemical and endocrine hormone analysis.…”
