Higado Graso: Ultrasonido Y Correlacion Anatomopatologica

Abstract: Fatty liver is a pathology characterized for accumulation of triglycerides within the hepatocytes. Today is diagnosed frequently by ultrasound and is important to know the ultrasonographic findings for the diagnosis. Our purpose was to correlate ultrasound and pathologic findings in the diagnosis of steatosis and propose grades of severity. This study demonstrated moderate concordance between ultrasound and biopsy findings.

“…Ultrasound-determined subcutaneous fat was defined as the distance between the skin and the external face of the rectus abdominal muscle, and visceral fat as the distance between the internal face of the same muscle and the anterior wall of the aorta (Ribeiro-Filho et al, 2003). NAFLD diagnosis was made in subjects with absent-to-low alcohol consumption (b 30 g/day) using the following criteria: a) increase in liver echogenicity with respect to the kidney, b) low or absent visualization of the portal vessels, and c) presence of hepatomegaly (Csendes et al, 2004). A fasting blood sample was taken to determine glycemia, lipid profile, insulin, C-reactive protein and uric acid.…”

“…A hepatic ultrasound (US) test will also be performed at the beginning of the two intervention periods, as well as at the end of the intervention periods. US diagnostic criteria for diagnosis and grading of hepatic steatosis will be used [ 16 ]. Smoking habits and anxiolytic and antihistaminic drug intake will also be recorded.…”
