“…In the 20-Au/TiO 2 NF photoelectrodes, there may have been too many Au NPs on the TiO 2 surface, which negatively affected PEC performance. The obtained efficiency of 0.52% for 15-Au/TiO 2 NFs photoelectrodes was comparable to or even better than those of previous reports for Au/TiO 2 nanostructures [27,28,30,31].…”

“…In such measurements, the slope of the current density vs. scan rate can be related to the double layer capacitance, which is directly proportional to the ECSA. 31 Based on the obtained results, Mo:TiO 2 -700 possesses the highest surface area (C dl ¼ 0.10 mF cm À2 ), whereas TiO 2 -650 is the sample with the smallest surface area (C dl ¼ 0.01 mF cm À2 ). These results agree well with SEM images, where grainrice-shaped nanostructures and porosity are observed for Mo:TiO 2 -700 ( Fig.…”

“…30 Dj is equal to (j a -j c ), where j a and j c are the anodic and cathodic current densities, respectively, in this case taken at 0.1 V Ag/AgCl in the CV scans. 31 Conduction and valence band (CB & VB) positions were measured from CV curves recorded in acetonitrile containing 0.1 M of tetrabutylammonium hexauorophosphate (TBAPF 6 ) at a scan rate of 50 mV s À1 and using the following formula: [32][33][34]…”

“…This is a higher value compared to some of the previously tested Au/TiO 2 nanocomposites. [149][150][151][152] Overall, it is clear that Au-modified TiO 2 owns the capacity to be employed in a vast array of applications such as photo-oxidation of organic molecules, removal of industrial effluents from natural water bodies, and solar energy conversion strategies. Altogether, it is understood from the reviewed studies that incorporation of Au has intensified the photocatalytic activity of TiO 2 to a remarkable stage.…”
