Hierarchical Task Assignment for Multi-UAV System in Large-Scale Group-to-Group Interception Scenarios

Xinning Wu,
Mengge Zhang,
Xiangke Wang
et al.

Abstract: The multi-UAV task assignment problem in large-scale group-to-group interception scenarios presents challenges in terms of large computational complexity and the lack of accurate evaluation models. This paper proposes an effective evaluation model and hierarchical task assignment framework to address these challenges. The evaluation model incorporates the dynamics constraints specific to fixed-wing UAVs and improves the Apollonius circle model to accurately describe the cooperative interception effectiveness o… Show more

“…With the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and aircraft technology, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are playing an increasing role in engineering applications by virtue of their low cost and perfect functions [1,2]. Nowadays, the coordinated operation of multiple UAVs has developed into an important mode to adapt to more complex environments and play better application effects [3][4][5]. Among them, cooperative task allocation of multiple UAVs is one of the key technologies in the top-level design of UAV cooperative operations [6,7].…”

“…The practical use of a swarm of intelligent robots that can collectively perform a task and solve a problem is a current research problem [37][38][39], and this problem is actively being considered within the framework of the use of neural networks [40]. This is due to the high computational complexity and lack of accurate assessment models [41,42]. The potential for accidents highlights the urgent need to take effective measures to reduce the risks of m id-air collisions [43,44].…”

“…Nowadays, the requirements for the accuracy of high-speed control of aircraft generally, and unmanned vehicles in particular, have increased [10][11][12], which is particularly important for a swarm of unmanned vehicles [13][14][15]. For unmanned vehicles, AI-based learning [16,17], including large ones [18], improves control performance.…”
