Hiding clinical information in medical images: A new high capacity and reversible data hiding technique

Abstract: A new high capacity and reversible data hiding scheme for e-healthcare applications has been presented in this paper. Pixel to Block (PTB) conversion technique has been used as an effective and computationally efficient alternative to interpolation for the cover image generation to ensure reversibility of medical images. A fragile watermark and Block Checksum (computed for each 4×4 block) have been embedded in the cover image for facilitating tamper detection and tamper localization, and hence content authenti… Show more

“…Moreover, approach [41] requires a location map for lossless recovery of the original image. In [16,36], spatial domain based watermarking methods are presented. Watermark data is encoded into the ISB [36] and LSB [16] to ensure authenticity and integrity of the image.…”

“…Further, 2D prediction error histogram has been explored in [18]. Apart from this, an entirely different technique also has been used for reversible data hiding in [8], [19]- [23]. Reversible data hiding scheme for encrypted images include reversible data hiding by Reserving Room before Encryption (RRBE), and reversible data hiding by Reserving Room after Encryption (RRAE).…”

“…Additionally, in patent and copy shield of multimedia data, the privacy and security are of ultimate significance. For instance, for medical images, the images and Electronic Patient Record (EPR) is transmitted to interested destinations through insecure channels of Internet [5]- [13]. A small variation of these medicinal images can leads to improper analysis and thus results in a deadly health difficulty.…”
