Various authorities are keen to preserve the confidentiality of their information and protect it from competing or hostile parties who were also keen to access that information by all available means. Since the encryption of information is exposed as it produces incomprehensible texts that arouse suspicion, some tend to work in a way that removes suspicions by hiding the information in a medium like text or picture so that what is sent and circulated appears natural and free of signs or incomprehensible symbols as if not loaded with any additional information. This paper introduces a review the techniques used to hide data in images as one of the most common concealment techniques.

Secret sharing is an approach for accessing sensitive information by several authorized participants. It shares the secret key in different forms among several authorized participants, where a certain number of which is required to retrieve the original secret. This secret sharing raised a new practicality challenge of human secrecy memorization as well as limited number of users allowed, which have been addressed within this work. This paper examines two particular secret sharing techniques known as the counting-based secret sharing and the matrix-based secret sharing, which enhances the former to accommodate a high number of participants. This work aimed to serve participants accommodating the share's memorization challenge via image steganography as well as testing both schemes in the cases of original 1-bit and 2-bit methods. We compared practicality applying the secret sharing methods combined with two image steganography methods: the least significant bit and the discrete wavelet transform. Our findings included interesting remarks regarding both security and robustness. Our results demonstrated that despite the large number of shares generated, as to serve more participants using the matrix-based scheme, its performance was highly satisfactory. Our experiments illustrated high imperceptibility levels for the matrix-based scheme, which in turn provides higher security and robustness compared to the original method, which provided very few shares serving a limited number of participants.

Data exchange has been significantly encouraged by the development of communication technology and the wide use of social media over the Internet. Therefore, it is important to hide the data transmitted, especially the data that requires a person's signature. Where the signature is an increasingly needed item that is used in our daily life to achieve some paperbased authentication in departments, the individual himself needs the signature. Cryptography and steganography are commonly considered to be the most important data hiding methodologies. Steganography is used to hide the secret message in the carrier media, such as text, audio, video, and image files, without the carrier media being distorted, and cryptography is used to conceal the purpose of the secret message. A hybrid data hiding (image steganography) and encryption technique is implemented in this research on the time domain. The secret handwritten signature image is first encrypted using the public key algorithm (RSA) in the proposed technique, then randomly inserted using Embedding data process to be concealed in one of the last three bits of that pixel(1 st Least Significant Bit, 2 nd LSB, and 3 rd LSB) based on mathematical randomized formula over all pixels of the carrier media (image). It is assumed that the process of randomization will increase the protection provided by the technique. The suggested technique is implemented on gray level cover images. As a consequence of the random scattering of bits and using encryption, it is noted that the proposed technique achieves enhanced data hiding results in terms of performance, protection, and imperceptibility properties and the histogram of the proposed technique is better and provides more protection and security than the ordinary sequential Least Significant Bit (LSB).
