Hibernating bat species of Belarus: results of the work of the Minsk bat contact centre. -A. Shpak. -Bat contact centres are organizations that exist in a number of countries and are engaged in popularization work, informational support for people facing bats, as well as rehabilitation and temporary maintenance of animals threatened with death during hibernation period. The data obtained during the activity of Minsk batcontact centre during winter periods of 2007-2016 are presented in the article. In total, 108 hibernating specimens and 5 colonies of 6 species (V. murinus, N. noctula, E. nilssonii, E. serotinus, P. auritus, and P. kuhlii) were registered for 18 localities of Belarus. The dominant among the registered hibernating bats is V. murinus. At the same time, the expansion of the wintering range is shown for V. murinus, N. noctula, and P. kuhlii. The dynamics of the species registrations during the period of the activity of the Centre, as well as during the period of hibernation, are presented. The results of the Centre's work show the high efficiency of such organizations for the monitoring of fauna and accumulation of scientific information. Шпак. -Контакт-центри по кажанам -товариства, які існують у низці країн і займаються популяризацією та інформуванням людей, які зіштовхнулися з рукокрилими, а також реабілітацією та зимовим утримуванням тварин, що знаходяться під загрозою загибелі впродовж гібернаційного періоду. У статті наведено дані, отримані Мінським контакт-центром щодо рукокрилим впродовж 2007-2017 рр. Всього відмічено 108 зимуючих особин та 5 колоній кажанів 6 видів (V . murinus, N. noctula, E. nilssonii, E. serotinus, P. auritus, P. kuhlii) з 18 населених пунктів Білорусії. Домінуючим у структурі зимуючих видів є лилик двоколірний. В той же час відмічено розширення зимівельного ареалу для трьох видів -V. murinus, N. noctula та P. kuhlii. Наведено як багаторічну, так і сезонну динаміку реєстрації тварин. Результати роботи Центру демонструють високу ефективність подібних центрів у моніторингу фауни і накопиченню наукової інформації. Here, we represent the first review of the bat fauna of the large territory of Central Ukraine (to the west from Dnieper River). The review is based on results of the original survey in 1999–2021 and data from all available sources (publications, museum collections). Fauna of the region includes 24 bat species: Eptesicus, 2 species; Barbastella, 1; Myotis, 10; Nyctalus, 3; Pipistrellus, 4; Plecotus, 2; Vespertilio, 1; Rhinolophus, 1. For each species there is a short description of its distribution (illustrated by a map), used roosts, seasonality of presence and reproductive status within the study area. The bat fauna composition is analysed by three distinguished subregions, from north to south: of mixed forests, the forest-steppe, and the Dniester river. The estimation of prevalence and comparative abundance of the species in the region is given. The general review of bat roosts, by their types (under- and overground), seasonality of usage, and sheltered species is presented. The paper is supplemented with the extensive array of original, earlier unpublished, primary data on bat records in the region.

This report presents the results of the bat fauna survey carried out in Belarus during the warm seasons between 2017 and 2020. The presented data were collected in 31 localities in all six administrative regions (voblasćs) of Belarus during field studies (mist-netting, searching for roosts and colonies, and acoustic surveys) and in the course of the work of the Minsk bat contact centre. Field data refer to 26 localities; acoustic observations to 14 localities; and netting was carried out in 19 localities (151 ind.). The data on bats collected via the contact centre came from 6 localities (35 ind.). In the course of our survey, we recorded 13 out of the 19 species of the Belarusian bat fauna. They are Barbastella barbastellus, Eptesicus nilssonii, E. serotinus, Myotis dasycneme, M. daubentonii, Nyctalus lasiopterus, N. leisleri, N. noctula, Pipistrellus kuhlii, P. nathusii, P. pygmaeus, Plecotus auritus, and V. murinus. The occurrence of all recorded species was confirmed by direct identification. Data on breeding have been added for all recorded species except for N. lasiopterus and B. barbastellus. Maternity colonies were recorded for E. serotinus, M. dasycneme (the second record of a maternity colony of the species for the entire period of research in Belarus) and M. daubentonii. The largest number of individuals recorded by the contact centre represent V. murinus; other species in descending order are E. serotinus, N. noctula, P. auritus, P. nathusii, B. barbastellus, M. daubentonii, P. kuhlii, and E. nilssonii. Among the netted individuals, P. nathusii prevailed; other species in descending order were M. daubentonii, P. pygmaeus, E. nilssonii, P. auritus, N. noctula, E. serotinus, M. dasycneme, N. leisleri, and N. lasiopterus. Three species (V. murinus, B. barbastellus, and P. kuhlii) were presented only among bats reported via the contact centre. During the survey, the species P. pipistrellus, Pl. austriacus, M. brandtii, M. nattereri, M. myotis, and M. mystacinus included in the list of mammal species of Belarus were not recorded. The reasons of the lack of records of these six species are discussed. The collected data contribute to the general knowledge on the distribution, breeding, and status of bat species in Belarus and Eastern Europe.
