“…This result suggests that OC was not efficiently decomposed in the ozone treatment [ 66 ], while CIP degraded through a large number of intermediates which were easily attacked directly by ozone. Such results were previously reported before in several studies [ 21 , 66 , 67 , 68 , 69 ].
Figure 5 (A) The removal of OC (left panel) and CIP (right panel) using the APO system and the FO system, and (B) the plot of C / C 0 of OC treated using the APO system (black squares) and the FO system (red circles) as a function of treatment time and the best fits of single exponential function.

“… 7 Combining ozone with the solid phase catalysts can accelerate the decomposition of ozone into hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and somehow overcome the limitations of ozonation alone. 8 It has relatively low energy demand and high degradation and mineralization effectiveness of some refractory organic pollutants in waters, thus becoming a research hot spot in the field of ozone oxidation. 7 So far, various solid catalysts have been reported including metal oxides, supported metals/metal oxides and some porous materials.…”

“…Ozonation studies using natural Mn ores were presented by Chen et al [ 165 ] and Van and Trinh [ 166 ]. In addition, Luo et al [ 167 ] employed a Mn-modified silicate ore as a catalyst in the ozonation reaction. The main results are presented below.…”

“…Luo et al [ 167 ] used a manganese modified silicate ore (MnSO by impregnation method) in the catalytic ozonation of ciprofloxacin (CIP). The characterization of the MnSO catalyst showed a homogeneously distributed MnOx (MnO 2 and Mn 2 O 3 ) over the surface of the silicate (SO) (13.35% wt / wt of Mn).…”
