Heterogeneous Amplitude−Phase Metasurface for Distinct Wavefront Manipulation

Abstract: Achieving simultaneously multiple distinct wavefront manipulations using a single flat plate is pivotal in increasing the integration level and information capacity of an optoelectronic system. As of today, the state‐of‐the‐art metadevices have been devoted to multiple functionalities by imparting two independent phase patterns triggered at two orthogonal polarization states. However, in fact, it is terribly challenging to realize individual amplitude−phase (A−P) control using an anisotropic metasurface. Herei… Show more

“…For example, Wang et al proposed a meta-atom comprising of a dual-layer ITO, a metallic dualmode layer, and a metallic ground. [205] Near-zero and near-unity reflections could be achieved for dual-orthogonal linear polarizations, which was helpful in triggering polarization-dependent functionalities. Therein, integrated radiation and diffusion absorption could be realized.…”

“…Metasurfaces composed of sub-wavelength meta-atom units enable optical components into thin, planar, multifunctional elements and they can dramatically reduce device size and system complexity [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. Many metasurface applications have been reported such as holography [10][11][12], metalenses [13][14][15][16], metasurface cloak [17], and vortex beam generation [18][19][20].…”

“…In particularly, polarization conversion and wavefront manipulation through the MSs play a very important role in many practical applications [21][22][23], such as subwavelength resolution imaging, cloak and wireless communications. Therefore, various MSs have been proposed and investigated to promote the rapid development of polarization conversion and wavefront manipulation devices [24][25][26][27][28][29]. For example, Yu et al, proposed a double-arrow MS, which can manipulate the polarization states of EM waves in the dual-band [24].…”
