“…The situation of the average asylum seeker -serious traumatic experiences in their home country, forced migration without belongings and usually without family, insecurity about the asylum procedure, unable to speak the language and no right to schooling nor to work, discrimination -is very distant from the situation of the average psychotherapist. The confrontation of these very different existential positions leads to strong feelings of unease with the therapist (Hafkenscheid, 2004).
