Hercynite silica sulfuric acid: a novel inorganic sulfurous solid acid catalyst for one-pot cascade organic transformations

Abstract: A novel inorganic sulfurous nanomagnetic solid acid composite was synthesized and its catalytic activity was evaluated in the synthesis of bis(pyrazolyl)methane derivatives. The catalyst displayed excellent activity and recoverability under green conditions.

“…[1][2][3] In these protocols, the whole range of compounds could be synthesized by minimizing waste, time, and cost without intermediate isolation. [4][5][6] Mostly, MCRs exhibit several advantages such as speed, simple workup, environment friendliness, short reaction times, higher yields, use of non-toxic solvents, and no use of column chromatography for purication. [7][8][9][10] In recent years, many publications based on MCRs have been reported, which emphasizes their highlighted applications in organic and medicinal chemistry.…”

“…3,31 Among magnetic nanoparticles, nanophase spinel ferrites with superparamagnetic behavior are presently utilized in drug transport, microwave devices, catalytic activity, and magnetic imaging. 4,[32][33][34][35] As valuable materials, ferrites are compounds with different and useful physical properties along with high chemical stability and low production cost. 36 Among diverse structures, spinel ferrites are the most important class and are divided into normal and inverse forms, in which Mg/ Fe 2 O 4 has great applicability owing to its potential for use in different elds.…”

“…MCRs have given chemists a powerful new synthetic tool for the synthesis of a wide variety of organic and bioorganic products in a single one-pot procedure, without the isolation of any intermediate, in the shortest amount of time possible, with the highest possible selectivity, the highest possible atom economy, and the best possible yields . The synthesis of nitrogen-containing six-membered heterocyclic systems has so far been accomplished via a wide variety of MCRs that have been established up to this point. ,, These scaffolds also demonstrate a broad variety of biological properties, such as antibacterial, anticancer, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-HIV, and antifungal activities. In this sense, our second objective in the present research is to develop a novel selective heterogeneous nanocatalyst based on MOFto be used in the synthesis of 4 H -pyrano [2,3- b ] pyridine-3,6-dicarbonitrile and octahydropyrimido [4,5- b ] [1,8] naphthyridine-7-carbonitrile through MCRs.…”

“…3,4,[9][10][11] Today, there is increasing interest in the design and synthesis of heterogeneous supports containing high loads of sulfonic acid groups to increase the turnover number (TON) and turnover frequency (TOF) of the reaction. 12 Despite signicant advances in producing eco-friendly heterogeneous supports (such as cellulose, 13 silica, 14,15 carbon nanotubes, 16 iron aluminate spinel hercynite, 17 graphite carbon nitride, 18 magnetic nanoparticles, 4,5,7,[19][20][21] and polymers 22 ), it is necessary to set certain rules for their applications in terms of their synthesis, recycling, management, and cost.…”

“…Herein, regarding the pursuing our interest in porous substances as catalysts in MCRs, 17,46,47 we aimed to design and prepare a stable multifunctional crosslinked polymer (PTBSA-SO 3 H) consisting of a melamine, sulfonamide and sulfonic acid. Accordingly, it was tried to develop a very efficient heterogeneous catalyst to synthesize 1,8-naphthyridines under ambient conditions.…”
