“…For instance, Bioactive polysaccharides with β-1,3, β-1,4, and β-1,6 side branches in TCM stimulate the immune system, thereby indirectly suppressing tumors [28]. TCM is also used to reduce the side effects of conventional chemotherapy for advanced pancreatic cancer, advanced colorectal cancer, and breast cancer [29,30,31]. There are a range of TCM extracts from Anemarrhena asphodeloides , Artemisia argyi , Commiphora myrrha , Duchesnea indica , Gleditsia sinensis , Ligustrum lucidum , Rheum palmatum , Rubia cordifolia , Salvia chinensis , Scutellaria barbata , and Uncaria rhychophylla that specifically inhibit cancer cell proliferation from breast, lung, pancreas, and prostate tissues of human and mouse, but show limited inhibition against normal human mammary epithelial cell growth [32].…”

“…Although forty reviews met the inclusion criteria with respect to quality assessment, twenty-nine studies were eliminated because they were investigating the primary crc risk in general populations , and another three systematic reviews were eliminated because the original studies included in those reviews were of poor quality due to numerous methodologic flaws and inconclusive findings [54][55][56] . Thus, only the remaining eight reviews (seven systematic reviews and one meta-analysis) were included in our synthesis [57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64] .…”

“…Drug compatibility was mostly applied in traditional medicine systems to reach the goal of better curative efficacies and fewer side effects (Qiu, ). Chinese herbal formulae had been widely explored, and their effectiveness are gradually proved by in vivo studies and clinical trials in modern times (Chen et al , ; Guo et al , ). In spite of the wide use of herb formulae, the exact mechanism was remained to be explored for most compatibility.…”
