Abstract:In this paper, we present HEPnOS, a distributed data service for managing data produced by high-energy physics (HEP) experiments. Using HEPnOS, HEP applications can use HPC resources more efficiently than traditional file-based applications. The file-based model leads to a rigid, chunk-based allocation of computational resources and limits the number of cores that can be used concurrently by an HEP application. The fundamental problem is that organizing domain-specific data into files inadvertently introduces … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
