Hepatoprotective effects of syringin on fulminant hepatic failure induced by D‐galactosamine and lipopolysaccharide in mice

Abstract: The prognosis for fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) still remains extremely poor with a high mortality and, therefore, better treatments are urgently needed. Syringin, a main active substance isolated from Eleutherococcus senticosus, has been reported to exhibit immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, we investigated the effects and underlying mechanisms of syringin on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and D-galactosamine (D-GalN)-induced FHF in mice. Mice were administered syringin (10, 30 and … Show more

“…The JNK-mediated cytochrome release might contribute to caspase-3 activation and the onset of apoptosis. 24,25 In addition, LPS can induce lethal liver failure when simultaneously administered with D-GalN. 23 LPS are characteristic components of the cell wall of Gram negative bacteria, LPS treated mice show cytotoxicity and liver injury.…”

“…P a > 0.7 indicates the probability of pharmacological potential is rich with values 0.5 < P a <0.7 reflecting considerable pharmacological effects experimentally. P a < 0.5 shows less pharmacological activity (Goel, Singh, Lagunin, & Poroikov, 2011;Khurana, Ishar, Gajbhiye, & Goel, 2011).…”

“…However, Jatrorrhizine and Syringing, the main active components in PC , exhibit low DL values (19.65%, 14.64%). Considering their potential pharmacological effects (Hu et al, 2009;Gong et al, 2014), they were still adopted for the further targeting.…”
