“…In accordance with our study, Gazal et al () demonstrated that chronic treatment with the aqueous extract of C. pachystachya reversed the increase in TBARS levels in the hippocampus of rats subjected to chronic mild stress, without changing the CAT and SOD activities. Moreover, the hydroethanolic extract of another Cecropia species, C. glaziovii Sneth, inhibited lipid peroxidation on the liver in post‐injury treatment and enhanced the activity of hepatic enzymes (SOD/CAT) (Petronilho et al, ). Thus, our findings suggest that the antidepressant‐like effects of a single dose of EFF‐ Cp on oxidative stress are mediated by the flavonoids, which are known by its antioxidant properties (Grosso et al, ).…”
