Hepatoprotective effect of ganoderma triterpenoids against oxidative damage induced bytert-butyl hydroperoxide in human hepatic HepG2 cells

Abstract: Objective: The objective of this study is to better understand the hepatoprotective effect of GTs and to enhance their use in food supplement pharmaceutical and medical industries. Materials and methods: HepG2 cells were pretreated in the presence or absence of GTs (50, 100 and 200 mg/ml) for 4 h, then exposed with 60 mmol/L of t-BHP for an additional 4 h. The cell viability was evaluated by MTT method. ALT, AST and LDH production in culture medium and intracellular MDA, GSH and SOD levels were determined. Mor… Show more

“…But the chemical structures of GLTs are more sophisticated as a result of the highly enriched oxidized states of these compounds. Most GLTs exhibit a large scale of bioactivity, including anticancer [16], antihypertensive, anti-HIV-1, antiangiogenic, immunomodulatory [17], antiandrogenic, antioxidant, antihepatitis B, antimicrobial activities, and anticomplement [18]. GLTs are efficient as adjuvant therapies and enhance health when united with other pharmaceuticals to cure fatigue syndrome, hepatitis, and prostate cancer [19].…”

“…fluorouracil (5-Fu) (1.2g/kg) 71,72 A study detected that the liver of the rats that consumed alcohol for 20 days enlarged. The alcohol-induced liver enlargement in the rats that were regularly provided alcohol was significantly suppressed by consumption of G. lucidum [during 4 weeks, The Reishi suspension (33 mg/ml) and water (1 mL)], which reduced their neurotransmitter imbalance.…”
