This study was to explore the application value for central venous stenosis and occlusion in hemodialysis patients under the CT angiography based on intelligent segmentation algorithm, so that patients can survive better. Spiral CT was used to examine upper limb swelling in 62 uremic hemodialysis patients at a speed of 3.8 mL/s. Nonionic iodine contrast agent was injected around the contralateral limb. The total dosage of 90-102 mL, it was scanned by intelligent trigger technology. The trigger scanning threshold was set. The monitoring point was located in the superior vena cava. CT with convolutional neural network intelligent segmentation algorithm was used to process image data. Finally, the quality of life and related biochemical levels of patients before and after hemodialysis were detected. Under the CT angiography of intelligent segmentation algorithm, 77 stenoses were found in 62 uremic patients, including 48 stenoses of the brachial vein and 17 stenoses of the superior vena cava. The correlation coefficient between CT angiography and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) imaging results of intelligent segmentation algorithm was 0.411. Segmentation effect of the algorithm in this study: automatic segmentation accuracy was greater than 79%. After hemodialysis treatment, the scores of physical fitness, pain, social function, and energy status of patients were significantly increased compared with those before treatment, and the levels of albumin, serum phosphorus, and parathyroid hormone were significantly decreased ( P < 0.05 ). In summary, CT angiography with intelligent segmentation algorithm can obtain clear, intuitive, and complete vascular walking images, and better display subclavian vein, brachiocephalic vein, and superior vena cava. It can provide more valuable support for surgical intervention and has certain application value for better survival of hemodialysis patients.

Background Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is the main cause of enteric acute viral hepatitis worldwide. In this epidemiological framework, it has become a threat to blood safety and a relevant issue for blood transfusions. However, there is a paucity of data regarding prevalence of HEV infection. The aim of this study was to determine HEV seroprevalence in blood donors from different regions from Argentina. Material and methods Serum samples from 391 individuals attending five blood donor centers located in different regions from Argentina were analyzed for anti-HEV IgG and anti-HEV IgM. Results Overall, anti-HEV IgG was detected in 44 out of 391 (11.3%) samples. HEV prevalence ranged from 5.1 to 20.0% among different country regions. A significant difference in blood donors’ age was observed between anti-HEV IgG positive and negative individuals [44 (37–51) vs. 35 (27–43), P < 0.001, respectively]. Anti-HEV IgM was detected in 8 out of 44 (18.2%) anti-HEV IgG positive cases. Conclusion Anti-HEV IgG was detected in blood donor samples from five analyzed Argentinean regions, highlighting the wide distribution of the virus in the country. HEV prevalence was variable among different regions and significantly higher in older donors. Given the evidence of anti-HEV IgM presence in blood donors, suggesting a potential risk of transfusion-transmitted HEV, screening for HEV in blood units to be used in vulnerable population would be desirable. Molecular studies for detection of viremic donors and donor–recipients follow-up are necessary to certainly determine the risk of transfusion-transmitted HEV in Argentina.

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) causes travel‐related but also locally acquired infections in industrialized parts of the world, including European countries. Food and blood transfusions are possible sources of transmission. Infections caused by zoonotic variants of the virus (particularly HEV‐3) may progress to chronic liver disease in a nonnegligible proportion of immunocompromised people. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of serological markers of HEV infection in 189 patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT, currently on hemodialysis, HD) living in west‐central Poland and to determine the factors related to HEV exposure in this group. Testing was carried out using commonly used commercial assays (Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise Co, Beijing, China). Anti‐HEV IgG was detected in 94 patients (49.7%); none of the participants had anti‐HEV IgM or HEV Ag. Patients on RRT (HD) for less than 6 months were significantly more likely to be anti‐HEV IgG‐positive than dependent of RRT (HD) for more than half a year (80% vs 47%; P = .014). Exposure to HEV in patients from west‐central Poland is frequent, but no clear sources of this infection have been identified. There were no serological features of ongoing liver disease caused by HEV in the study subjects.
