Hepatic Transcriptome Analysis Provides New Insight into the Lipid-Reducing Effect of Dietary Taurine in High–Fat Fed Groupers (Epinephelus coioides)

Abstract: A transcriptome analysis was conducted to provide the first detailed overview of dietary taurine intervention on liver lipid accumulation caused by high–fat in groupers. After an eight-week feeding, the fish fed 15% fat diet (High–fat diet) had higher liver lipid contents vs. fish fed 10% fat diet (Control diet). 15% fat diet with 1% taurine (Taurine diet) improved weight gain and feed utilization, and decreased hepatosomatic index and liver lipid contents vs. the High–fat diet. In the comparison of the Contro… Show more

“…S3A †); while glycoursodeoxycholic acid could improve HFD-induced insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis, 49 and hypotaurine, a precursor of taurine, promoted fat metabolism and reduces fat accumulation. 50 Further, 9-KODE is a derivative of linoleic acid; while acetoacetate stimulates triacylglycerol synthesis, and these changes in metabolites responding to lipid synthesis and metabolism are consistent with the embodiment of our present findings. When phospholipid metabolism is abnormal, it usually affects fat metabolism as well, and the two interact to play important roles.…”

“…Additionally, the two-component system, phosphatidylinositol signaling system, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway-yeast, and phospholipase D signaling pathway were considered as the most possible mechanisms of differential bacterial response to host in HS related intestinal aging. Notably, two-component system ( 36 ), phosphatidylinositol signaling system ( 37 ), PI3K-Akt signaling pathway ( 38 ), MAPK signaling pathway-yeast ( 39 ), phospholipase D signaling pathway ( 40 ) involve the regulation of physiological and pathological activities.…”

“…The transcriptome is the pivot that links the genetic information of genes to functional proteins [ 22 ]. For example, it can explain that taurine can promote hepatic endogenous taurine synthesis, bile secretion, insulin secretion, and fatty acid β-oxidation efficiency to reduce fat accumulation in grouper ingesting high-lipid diets (15% crude lipid) [ 23 ]. As a bridge between genotype and phenotype, the metabolome ensures the maintenance of aerobic metabolism and activates gluconeogenesis as key metabolic strategies of turbot kidney against heat stress [ 24 ].…”
