Hemodynamic Responses Among Three Tracheal Intubation Devices in Normotensive and Hypertensive Patients

Abstract: Both the intubating laryngeal mask airway Fastrach and the Trachlight lightwand attenuate the hemodynamic stress response to tracheal intubation compared with the Macintosh laryngoscope in hypertensive, but not in normotensive, anesthetized paralyzed patients.

“…These may prolong recovery time and may lead to cardiovascular complications. Kihara et al has demonstrated that LMA had no significant change on heart rate, s y stolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure compared to Macintosch laryngoscopy in hypertensive patient 9 . An our study we used normotensive sample and found the same result.…”

“…Mean duration of attempts in TFS group is significantly more than the mean duration of www.iosrjournals.org 162 | Page attempts in LS group. 10,11,12 Tip of the TFS is not flexible and its movement cannot be controlled from outside. This causes increased need of maneuvering during intubation that explains the significantly more intubation time in TFS group.…”
