Abstract

We conclude that this study provides valuable integrated data for determining the health status, including electroneurophysiological parameters, data not previously reported for this species, of the African green monkey.

Measurement of hematological and serum biochemical normal values of captive housed Chlorocebus aethiops sabaeus monkeys and correlation with the age

However, the ALT and AST values described in this study were lower than those reported in other previous studies , where the same specie was used. It may probably be explained by different animal dietary and maintenance conditions.…”

Within the advantages that justify the use of these animals are that the breeding cost of African green monkeys is just 30% of the rhesus monkeys breeding cost , it does not transmit herpes B virus infection , endemic disease in macaques, which causes fatal encephalitis in humans making this monkey a safer alternative for human handlers than macaque species.…”
