Abstract-Emergency never runs with earlier intimations and indications. In the real world and practical life, detecting and perceiving such emergencies and reporting them are a genuine test and tough challenge. Smartphones Systems for Emergency Management (SPSEM) provide details of existing emergency applications and provide a new direction to overcome the traditional problem having manual intercession and reporting emergencies. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview of SPSEM. We elaborate how embedded sensors automate the procedure of emergency crisis detection and responding. Furthermore, we critically evaluate the operations, benefits, limitations, emergency applications and responsiveness in any emergency crisis of different approaches. We provide an easy and concise view of the underlying model adapted by each SPSEM approach. In last, we estimate the future utility and provide an insight of upcoming trends in SPSEM.

Abstract-Indonesia is a country located on top of some tectonic plates that bring potential natural disasters. Disaster management system is considered essential in controlling the situation in the site both before and after the disaster takes place. In disaster situation, the government and society are involved in a volunteer team in order to help minimize victims and support survivors. However, the volunteering activities are often hindered since there are problems in the disaster site. One of the problems is late responses due to poor coordination among volunteers that drives the delay in disaster relief. Therefore, it is necessary to have an application that maps the positions of volunteers in a disaster site, so that the disaster management coordinator can disseminate volunteers to disaster areas based on needs. The purpose of the study is to propose an application called 'MyMapVolunteers' that effectively and efficiently detects the position of the volunteers in order to improve disaster management service. In this case, real time and location based service technology will able to detect the position of each volunteer. 'MyMapVolunteers' is composed of two platforms, which are mobile and web applications. Mobile platform is an application that uses GPS function provided by the smartphone to find the volunteers' location coordinates and then send the data of the location automatically and manually. The web platform is used to receive volunteers' location data and to present them in google map, therefore disaster management coordinator can monitor the positions of and search for volunteers faster.

Among today's rapidly evolving technologies, artificial intelligence plays a significant role in making decisions by a system without any human intervention. An Emergency Management System (EMS) is a decision support system where emergencies such as tsunami, landslide, fire, cyclone, and electrical short circuits can be prevented with prior detection and can be addressed immediately in an efficient way after the emergency occurred. Automation of EMS can avoid or manage multiple emergencies, which alternatively can save lives, economy, and environment. Quality demand response with fast data transfer, error minimized computation, and effective resource utilization is very much essential while developing the EMSs. This will provide a bridge between the technology and emergency responders. Resource-limited smart devices can be made rich in computational behavior by outsourcing their requirements such as storage, virtual servers, and web services using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC). In this work, we have done a detailed survey on both MCC applications and EMS applications proposed in the literature, and we have also identified the design challenges handled in both MCC and EMS applications. We have presented the design challenges and possible solutions for development of EMS using MCC. We propose an architecture for building an automated EMS using MCC. Finally, we conclude the paper with specific future directions.
