Helobdella stagnalis (Hirudinea: Glossiphoniidae), the first facultative mussel-associated leech in Europe

Abstract: The ecological group of mussel-associated freshwater leeches (Hirudinea) contains facultative and obligate inhabitants of the mantle cavity of freshwater mussels (Unionida) from Asia, Africa, North America, and South America.
