This article discusses how Greeks perceived Salvador Allende's overthrow, Pinochet's military dictatorship, and US interventionism in Chile. By the end of Greece's dictatorship (1967–1974), left‐wing militants emotionally identified with the ‘Chilean tragedy’ through their own experiences of military authoritarianism. Indeed, the Greek Colonels' Junta amplified the 1973 Chilean coup's local impact. Subsequently, during the early Metapolitefsi period (1974–1981), a wide variety of Greek political, social, and cultural actors used the Chilean 1970s as a key reference in the crucial debates that ultimately redefined Greece's collective political and cultural identities.

Este estudio examina la relación entre Octavio Paz y el Grupo 1890, un colectivo de jóvenes artistas indios que tuvieron su única exhibición en Nueva Delhi en 1963. El análisis se centra en el diálogo que surge del catálogo de la exhibición, que incluye un ensayo introductorio de Paz y el manifiesto provocador del Grupo. A través de una lectura de las aproximaciones de Paz y el grupo a la novedad artística, el rol de lo nacional y la relación arte-realidad, este estudio busca trazar un diálogo artístico sur-sur basado en la incongruencia y la heterogeneidad. El poeta ve en las obras exhibidas la expresión de una vanguardia global, influenciada por movimientos europeos, construida en oposición a la tradición folclórica nacional y abocada a una exploración profunda de la realidad sin caer nunca en el realismo. Mientras tanto, el manifiesto del Grupo 1890 proyecta una visión casi nihilista que, a pesar de reconocer un predecesor europeo en su dedicatoria, rechaza su tradición nacional sin decantarse por pretensiones universalistas y conceptualiza el arte como un campo independiente y separado de lo real.

Translations are a form of rewriting, together with criticism, anthologies, historiography, text books, reference works, etc., all of which construct images of writers and/or their works (Bassnett and Lefevere 1998:10) Neruda (1904Neruda ( -1973 published in the US in 1950. . Factors of a sociopolitical, ideological and/or literary nature influence this image construction process. This paper has two main aims: to explore to what extent ideological factors play a role in the image construction process and to ascertain to what extent these images are the result of complying with or going against the dominant ideology of the target culture at the time of publication. These aims will be achieved by using as a case study the translations into English of Canto general by the Chilean laureate poet Pablo
