Height and Width Parameters for Ensuring Passage of Excessive Loads on Roads

Abstract: <p>The article deals with the problem of passage of excessive transports on the roads and ensuring the necessary height and width parameters for this transport in the Czech Republic. Currently is lack of regulations for the design of communications for transit of excessive and oversized cargo in the Czech Republic. On the basis of these aspects the research in this area was carried out and the parameters were set to ensure the passage of excessive loads on the road. The article describes the issue of tra… Show more

“…For further evaluation of the analysis of vehicle movement on the turbo roundabout, it was necessary to have records from above (bird's eye perspective). UAV "drones" were used for this purpose [9,20]. On the selected turbo roundabout, shots from the drone and recording devices were supplemented by counting devices.…”

“…For example, an intersection with a small corner radius can be a problem, if it forces a driver who is turning right to enter the opposite direction when exiting the intersection. Drivers of ordinary vehicles, as well as drivers of oversized cargoes could encounter problems while passage through the intersection [8,9]. There are so-called backbone routes in road networks, for the transport of various large machine parts, construction machinery, etc.…”

“…The selection of the route depends on the type of cargo, its dimensions and weight. The competent administrative authority grants the final approval of the proposed route (Petru & Krivda, 2017). Due to the passage on roads and bridges, the choosing of the suggested route often takes several months.…”

“…Water transport is also available only to a limited extent in Czech conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out the transport on chosen routes of road infrastructure with the assistance of special vehicles (Petru & Krivda, 2017). The road network in the Czech Republic is dimensioned for these transports only partially.…”
