Heavy Metals Can either Aid or Oppose the Protective Function of the Placental Barrier

Abstract: BACKGROUND: In developing countries, toxic heavy metals are a threatening catastrophe to human health, particularly in the vulnerable group of pregnant mothers and their fetuses.
