Heavy ion collision experiments at NICA

Abstract: The NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility) project is under realization at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna). The main goal of the project is an experimental study of hot and dense strongly interacting matter in heavy ion (up to Au) collisions at nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energies up to 11 GeV. The physics program will be performed in two experiments, BM@N (Baryonic Matter at Nuclotron) at beams extracted from the Nuclotron, and MPD (MultiPurpose Detector) at the NICA collider. … Show more

“…This requires high statistics data collected with detectors optimized for open and hidden charm measurements. Charm measurements are planned by NA61/ SHINE [37], NA60+ [38] at the CERN SPS, they are considered by MPD [39] at NICA and JHITS [40] at J-PARC-HI MR.…”

“…In this paper methods to remove the influence of the volume fluctuations in fixed target experiments are reviewed and tested. They can be of key importance in the following ongoing fixed-target heavy-ion experiments: NA61/SHINE [4] at the CERN SPS, STAR-FT [5] at the BNL RHIC, BMN [6] at the JINR Nuclotron, HADES [7] at the GSI SIS18, and in the future experiments such as NA60+ [8] at the CERN SPS, CBM [9] at the FAIR SIS100, JHITS [10] at J-PARC-HI MR.…”

“…Figure 17 (right) presents a compilation of present and future facilities and their region of coverage in the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter. Charm measurements are planned by NA61/SHINE[99], NA60+[100] at the CERN SPS, they are considered by MPD[101] at NICA and J-PARC-HI[102] at J-PARC. A detailed two dimensional scan is considered by NA61/SHINE at the CERN SPS[99].…”
