Abstract:Design optimization of the heavy-ion beam probe (HIBP) diagnostics for the STOR-M tokamak is described. The optimal geometry of the HIBP diagnostics has been determined by numerical simulations. In this geometry a significant part of the upper half of the poloidal cross-section is covered by the detector grid. A disadvantage of the HIBP in STOR-M is the decay of the toroidal magnetic field during a discharge. A novel energy-sweeping technique is proposed to compensate for drooping. This technique allows for co… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
