Heavy flavour production and fragmentation

Abstract: We review theoretical and experimental results relevant to charm and bottom physics. In particular, we consider charmonium and open heavy-flavour production at Tevatron, LEP and HERA colliders, and in heavy-ion scattering. We study the prospect of future b-physics measurement at the LHC with the ATLAS and CMS detectors.

“…Furthermore, one has to calculate a so-called resolved component, where the photon serves as a source of partons. These direct and resolved photon-proton scattering processes have been calculated by three groups in NLO QCD [7,8,9]. The calculation of [7] uses the subtraction method, whereas the other two groups [8,9] use the phase-space slicing method.…”

“…The measured ZEUS data is compared to NLO pQCD calculations for three photon PDFs, GRV-HO [4], AFG-HO [6] and GS96-HO [5]. The NLO calculations have been performed by three groups of theorists, Harris et al [1], Klasen et al [2] and Frixione et al [3]. Since the agreement between the calculations is excellent only one of the calculations is plotted.…”
