“…The goal of the present study is to gain more insight into the bonding situation in bismuth(III) complexes with the PS 3 ligand. Although other multidentate ligand systems are known in the literature, due to their accordion-like structural flexibility the molecular skeleton of type PS 3 BiX 3 seems to be suitable for experimental investigations. First, we aim to predict computationally how the pnictogen interaction between the bridgehead atoms P and Bi observed in the neutral PS 3 BiX 3 compounds can be shifted into a dative (covalent) regime, and subsequently, we provide experimental evidence based on X-ray crystallography and NMR studies.…”

“…In particular, the pnictogen (Pn) family of heteroles has attracted considerable attention. 2 Pyrrole, indole, and carbazole are wellknown bioactive molecules and optoelectronic materials. Phosphole, a phosphorus analog of pyrrole, has also been widely explored as an active material in organic light-emitting diodes as well as a ligand for transition metal catalysts.…”

“…Introduction of heteroatoms into π-conjugated systems is a powerful tool to explore diverse functions. 1–3 Among a variety of heteroatoms, arsenic is an element that has gradually gained attention in recent years. 4 Although dangerous precursors, which are volatile and toxic, were previously necessary to synthesize organoarsenic compounds, recent progress in practical As–C bond formation reactions 5 strongly supports the advancement of As-fused π-conjugated systems.…”
