Heat transfer studies in soil below cold stores

Abstract: This investigation is devoted a study of the heat transfer process below and adjacent to cold stores. Numerically, the cold store dimensions, temperatures, floor level, insulation thickness, and the initial soil temperatures were considered. Experimentally, a series of runs were assessed to verify the numerical model, and the outcome was acceptable. Finally, the study revealed an expression for both average floor heat flux, and the time required for the soil to achieve 0°C.
