Heat shock protein 70 kDa (HSP70) increase in sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax, L 1758) thymus after vaccination against Listonella anguillarum

Abstract: Heat shock proteins 70 kDa (HSP70) and apoptosis were investigated in thymus of sea bass juveniles (Dicentrarchus labrax) subsequently to a vaccination against Listonella (syn. Vibrio) anguillarum. HSP70 expression was measured by immunohistochemistry and immunoenzymatic methods, resulting in increase in HSP70 after bath immunization and persistent in fish exposed to an intraperitoneal (i.p.) booster. The HSP70 increase in thymus was suggested as induction in lymphocytic cells, to be related to immune system s… Show more

“…plays an important role in the apoptotic process (Zhang et al 2008). Caspase-3 is the marker protein of apoptosis participating in degradation of nuclear and cytoplasmic proteins during this process (Kondera and Witeska 2013;Mosca et al 2013). Lang et al (2003Lang et al ( , 2006 reported that apoptosis is Ca 2?…”

“…The dotted studied in the related European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), though much of this research used a targeted gene approach and focused on aquaculture practices. In D. labrax, significant induction of hsp70 has been found following changes in diet [29,30], handling stress [31], vaccination [32] and during larval development [33]. Cheng, Xia [34] used RNA-seq to assess transcriptomic changes in D. labrax after infection by a common pathogen, but found no induction of any HSP-related genes, while the pufferfish (Takifugu rubripes) also assessed in this study did show HSP induction.…”

“…However, miR-1 is a direct repressor of HSP70 and its upregulation was demonstrated during the regeneration of zebrafish heart 5 . Some years ago, we optimized the immunohistochemistry for HSP70 antibody 42 , and recently, also for the zebrafish heart. In our finding, already after 24–48 h, a strong positivity to HSP70 in the RC has been evident.…”
