Heat-shock protein 70 expression in the seminal plasma of patients with chronic bacterial prostatitis and chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic value and potentially protective capacity of heat-shock protein 70 (HSP70) in chronic bacterial prostatitis and chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). In this study, seminal plasma levels of cytokines (tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) and interleukin 1b (IL-1b)) and HSP70 were evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 80 men: 15 healthy controls, 16 men with chronic bacterial prostatitis, 23 men with CP/CPPS IIIA and 26 with CP/… Show more

“…IL‐1β, TNF‐α, and HSP70 levels were increased in the seminal plasmas from patients with chronic prostatitis. In fact, increased IL‐1β in prostatic secretions has been suggested as a diagnostic indicator of chronic prostatitis . In this study, T. vaginalis stimulated the production of IL‐1β as well as CCL2 mRNA and CXCL8 mRNA in prostate epithelial cells.…”

“…In addition, patients with CP/CPPS had sperm quality alterations such as lower sperm concentration, motility and viability associated with elevated levels of IFNc, IL-17, IL-1b and IL-8, and more sperm apoptosis/necrosis. Cytokines such as tumour necrosis factor a, IL-1b, IL-6, and IL-8 have already been reported to be elevated in patients with CP/CPPS [42][43][44]. Moreover, IL-6 and IL-8 have been proposed as biomarkers of urogenital inflammation [45][46][47].…”

“…A®G replacement in 1267 position of HSP70-2 gene causes changes of mRNA HSP70 expression [22][23][24][25] . In some studies was proved that the HSP70 expression increasing is associated with higher activity of T-helpers, plays a protective role in regulation of cellular function in case of chronic pelvic pains and chronic bacterial prostatitis syndrome, block the tumour growth factor 1 production, decreasing inflammatory reaction and protects against bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in mice 26,27 . Our study is the first available of the HSP70-2 gene's A1267G SNP associations with the Escherichia enterocolitis.…”
