Heat‐Resistant Polymers Prepared Through C – N Coupling Reaction

Abstract

Heat‐resistant polymers and their composites are important commercial materials. Polymers containing N ‐heteroatom demonstrate superior heat resistant properties, but their applications are limited because of poor solubility in organic solvents. This article provides a summary of the synthesis, properties, and applications of the N ‐heteroatom contained heat resistant polymers, which are prepared by way of CN coupling. The focus of the article is on: (1) polyaryl imino (PAI) heat resistant polymers prepared by way of palladium catalyzed CN coupling; (2) N‐polybenzimidazole ( N ‐;PBI) series compounded through nucleophilic substitution CN coupling; (3) indole‐based soluble heat resistant polymers constructed through the N ‐arylation of indole.
