Heat-inducible C3HC4 type RING zinc finger protein gene from Capsicum annuum enhances growth of transgenic tobacco

Abstract: Capsicum annuum RING Zinc Finger Protein 1 (CaRZFP1) gene is a novel C3HC4-type RING zinc finger protein gene which was previously isolated from a cDNA library for hot pepper plants treated of heat-shock. The CaRZFP1 was inducible to diverse environmental stresses in hot pepper plants. We introduced the CaRZFP1 into the Wisconsin 38 cultivar of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) by Agrobacterium mediated transformation under the control of the CaMV 35S promoter. Expression of the transgene in the transformed tobacco … Show more

“…In particular, at least 86 ribosomal proteins were found in the DNA/RNA metabolic process category (Figure 3b), suggesting that transcriptome reprogramming during ripening involves a shift in protein synthesis. 'Transcription factor activity' function is also well represented, for example, 30 zinc finger genes, including C(2)H(2)-type proteins that regulate stress and hormone response pathways [34] and many C3HC4-type RING zinc fingers that also play a role in abiotic stress responses [35,36]. We also identified at least eight members of the MYB transcription factor family (see the heat map in Figure 3c, which shows the expression profiles among vineyards and during ripening).…”

“…Thus far, a number of RING finger protein genes in plant taxa have been evaluated with regard to their putative regulatory functions in development (Deng et al 1992;Keiko et al 1998;Ruqiang and Qingshun 2003;Koiwai et al 2007;Liu et al 2007) and their responses to environmental stresses (Ko et al 2006;Hong et al 2007;Qin et al 2008;Zeba et al 2009). Stone et al (2005) has classified a large and diverse population of RING domaincontaining proteins in Arabidopsis, suggesting that targetspecific proteolysis by these E3 ligases is a complex and crucial component of cellular regulation.…”
