Heat flux correlation for high-speed flow in the transitional regime

Abstract: The paper analyses the data on pressure differential ∆p in a layer of balls loading (of the matrix), the statistics varying with the speed of filtration and the balls diameter. Employing the solid approach to generalization, we obtained explicit reference to critical (transition) value of the Reynolds number (Re=60-80). Alternatively to the recognized universal expression for ∆p, the article provides individual expressions of ∆p fair for laminar and post-laminar flow regimes respectively. The paper features a … Show more

“…Thus, nonequilibrium N-S equations should be adopted when 0.001 < Kn < 0.1. When 0.001 < Kn < 0.1, the shear stress and heat flux predicted by the N-S equations with Newtonian and Fourier models are no longer accurate [27]. Thus, the slip boundary conditions should be considered [28].…”

“…During the launch vehicle movement in the atmosphere, the radiant and convective heat fluxes act on it as a result of interaction with the oncoming atmospheric flux. The analysis of various semiempirical formulas for calculating the thermal load when a body moves in the atmosphere was performed by (Singh and Schwartzentruber, 2016). The general feature of various formulas for calculating the heat flux is the proportionality of the heat flux to the motion speed raised to the third power q$V 3 .…”

“…Under hypersonic flight conditions, a large temperature gradient is formed along the direction of the airflow, and a large thermal stress is generated in the high-temperature area of the front end of the sharp wedge structure, which makes the front end of the wedge structure face a serious problem of excessive stress, and fullscale thermal testing of the structure is needed [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]. However, the traditional quartz lamp and graphite heating equipment are limited by their heating materials, and there are shortcomings in simulating temperature or continuous working time [19][20][21][22][23][24]. In addition, the operating cost of arc wind tunnels is very high, so gas flow wind tunnel testing is a good choice for conducting thermal tests [25][26][27][28][29].…”
