“…The mixture of P. ginseng and C. pinnatifida improved procollagen type I expression, diminished matrix metalloproteinase-1 secretion and improved various other human skin values associated with aging, wrinkle formation and moisture (Hwang et al, 2017). Creams with 5-15% of C. pontica leaf extract have a healing effect on dermal toxicity caused by T-2 toxin as it was shown by the study with Iranian rabbits (Kalantari et al, 2016). The penetration of active substances into the full undamaged human skin from the semisolid preparations containing C. oxyacantha extract was evaluated ex vivo.…”

“…Today, Crataegus berries and flowers are officially recognized as herbal raw materials and have been included in European, American, and Canadian pharmacopeias. Recent research confirmed and extended the possibilities of the traditional use of this plant, among others, to anti-inflammatory [ 8 , 9 ], anti-oxidant [ 10 , 11 ], anti-aging [ 12 ], anti-depressant [ 13 ], anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial [ 14 ], hypoglycemic, hepatoprotective [ 15 ], gastroprotective [ 16 ], immunostimulatory, hypolipidemic, hypocholesterolemic, and anti-atherosclerotic effects [ 17 ]. Furthermore, Crataegus extracts are considered as putative therapeutic agents for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, melanoma, and colorectal cancer [ 18 , 19 , 20 ].…”

“…The Allium jesdianum (AJ) plant, with proved pharmacological properties, is a native herbal product of Middle East regions (13). The antioxidant features of the biochemical components of AJ (like flavonoids and phenolic) are applied by activation of white blood cells in response to superoxide produced via NADPH oxidase (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase) (14).…”
