HDlive and HD-flow images of early-stage nonhydropic mole

Abstract: We present our first experience of constructing an image of an early-stage complete hydatidiform mole employing HDlive. Conventional 2D sonography showed massive, lobulated, and mixed masses and intrauterine anechoic fluid collection. Smooth, lobulated masses were clearly recognized using HDlive. Small, irregular, cystic spaces inside the masses were also evident. HDlive provided anatomically realistic features akin to macroscopic specimens for physicians and pathologists, owing to the complete depiction of th… Show more

“…There have been several reports on the 3D ultrasound features of molar pregnancy in the first trimester; however, the spatial relationship between molar vesicular structures, fluid collection and surrounding vascularity remains unclear. In this study, the unique characteristics of the combination of HDlive Flow with HDlive silhouette mode allowed the observation of overlapping blood vessels, showed with vitreous‐like clarity the outline and borders of molar vesicles or cysts with a transparent core, and revealed fluid collection folds and curves with inner structures.…”

“…There have been only four reports on three‐dimensional (3D) ultrasound (inversion mode, HD Live , and HD Live Flow) assessments of complete hydatidiform mole in the first trimester of pregnancy . However, to the best of our knowledge, there has been no report on the HD Live silhouette mode features of complete mole.…”
