Hbim for Conservation and Management of Built Heritage: Towards a Library of Vaults and Wooden Bean Floors

Abstract: ABSTRACT:The paper illustrates the utility to switch from a 3D content model to a Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM) in order to support conservation and management of built heritage. This three dimensional solution is based on simplified parametric models, suitable for industrial elements and modern architecture, that can be usefully applied to heritage documentation and management of the data on conservation practices. In this sense, the potentials in starting the definition of an HBIM targeted l… Show more

“…Other authors, such as Oreni et al, [112][113][114] and Barazzetti et al, [115,116], argue that BIM software presents limitations for modeling non-standard architectural objects, characteristic of architectural heritage. Therefore, the integration of the Rhinoceros software is proposed to model the architectural components of the analyzed building and to generate the H-BIM library.…”

“…Therefore, each object of these historical buildings must be classified in an architectural object library. Recently, a number of research studies have been focusing on this topic in Europe and Canada, such as Fai et al, (2013);Murphy (2012) and Oreni et al, (2013). From this standpoint, the Hijazi Architectural Objects Library "HAOL" has reproduced Hijazi elements as 3-D computer models, which are modelled using a Revit Family (RFA).…”

“…The curve should be interpolated as closely as possible so that the distance between the curves, clouds, and final surface is minimum (Hu et al, 2001;Brujic et al, 2002). The reconstruction of the bridge included the preliminary subdivision of the bridge into structural elements following the logic of construction (how the bridge is actually built, such as foundations, columns, arches, etc., see Brumana et al, 2013). This process allows an accurate geometric representation of the external shape surveyed with laser scanning technology and photogrammetry.…”
