“…Critical Nature of Collaboration and Mentorship -the Keys to Success Overall That a workshop of this complexity is distilled to 2 groups of 12 questions and ideas is a remarkable achievement (17)(18)(19). The Supplementary Table S1 (https://doi.org/10.1667/ RADE-22-00012.1.S1) includes the questions and the Supplementary Table S2 (https://doi.org/10.1667/RADE-22-00012.1.S1) lists various tools and skills.…”

“…The present study required an estimation of the number of patients in whom pCR would be achieved given a BC patient population exposed to NAC. As Brazil has a constrained-budget healthcare system, in which innovative drugs are not available in the public system, we searched the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project Protocols (NSABP) B-27 study results [9] for evidence related to the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in Brazil. In that study, of patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, 26.3% of non-pCR group patients died (n = 490 deaths out of 1857 patients), whereas 10.3% of pCR group patients died (n = 42 out of 397 patients) in the eight-year median follow-up.…”

“…Regarding Brazilian clinical trial participation data, the 2021 Interfarma [8] report shows participation in only 2.4% of cancer studies worldwide. Given the importance of these issues, real-world data (RWD) are essential to complement information obtained in clinical trials to verify the effectiveness of treatments currently available in a given service or health system [9].…”

“…However, attention should be paid on education and training, as different stakeholders invested in this rapidly evolving space have varying levels of understanding of RWD and RWE. Rivera et al . discuss the need to embrace collaborative interdisciplinary teams and to enhance clinical data scientist training opportunities (Table of ref.…”
