Hardware realization of DC embedding video watermarking technique based on FPGA

Abstract: In this paper, a video watermark technique is proposed. The proposed technique depends on inserting invisible watermark in Low Frequency DCT domain using pseudo random number (PN) sequence generator for the video frames instead of high or mid band frequency components. This technique has been realized using Matlab and VHDL. The system has been implemented on Xilinx chip XC5VLX330T. The result of implementation shows that maximum frequency 13.61 MHZ. The experimental and implementation results has been demonstr… Show more

“…Digital watermarking is the act of hiding information in multimedia data, such as image, video or audio, for content protection or authentication [705]. FPGAs in digital watermarking have been used for real time watermarking detection in video [706,707], Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) based digital image watermarking [708][709][710] and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based digital image/audio watermarking [555,711,712]. Image enhancement is used "to improve interpretability or perception of info available within the images, making it suitable for human vision, as well as to provide improved input to the other automated image processing techniques" [713].…”

“…The algorithm suffers from blocking artifacts which affects the visual quality of watermarked video. Wessam et al [9] proposed FPGA implementation of video watermarking where pseudo random watermark is inserted in low frequency components of DCT. The technique is used to embed an invisible watermark in each frame of video.…”

“…It was noted that all these algorithms/implementations are either based on uncompressed domain or requires huge complex computation. The limitations of the algorithms restrict the real time integration with H.264 standard [4,9,17,25,28,33,37]. Some compressed domain algorithms have their own application domain [29,35].…”
